Esh Aerial Arts

Class Descriptions

All group classes meet once a week and are run in seven-week sessions. Private lessons are available in all disciplines, with any instructor, upon request.

Aerials Classes

No experience or athletic ability is necessary- all levels are welcome! Each aerials class is limited in size to maximize student-teacher interaction. Classes run 75 minutes, and consist of 15 minutes of guided warm-up, 35-50 minutes of skill work, and 15-20 minutes of strength conditioning and stretching. All classes focus on form, technique, and transitions. Rather than simply teach trick after trick, we aim to teach students the fundamental “hows” of moving in the air, with the goal of creating versatile and adaptable aerialists.

All aerials classes are generally either “vertical” apparatuses or “horizontal/bar” apparatuses. Check out our aerial apparatus description page for more info!

Partner Acrobatics

Partner acrobatics consists of a base supporting a flyer in a variety of poses, lifts, and dynamic movements.  Each class explores range of partner and group balancing poses and transitions.  Students will develop strength and technique, and focus on the “hows” of balancing, breaking down how each trick works, and how to experiment safely to develop new variations.  Classes will also cover safe spotting techniques.

Handbalancing

Do you dream of the perfect handstand? Whether your goal is improving your form or advanced tricks like: crocodiles, mexican handstands, and one arms, this is the class that will help get you there. Designed to give each student the individual attention of the coach, the group size is limited to six. Classes consist of a 10-15 minute warm up followed by an hour of skill work and conditioning. Form and technique are emphasized. You must be able to hold a 30 second handstand against a wall.

Cirque Fitness Classes

Want to work out like circus stars? This 75 minute open-level class is designed to build overall fitness by focusing on strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility. This class is great for everyone from non-acrobats looking for a unique workout to full-time circus students in training. While we will use the aerial apparatuses in the space, we will not be teaching any skills beyond climbing silks and hanging from hands and knees on the bar.

“I was originally attracted to aerial silks as a means of improving my workout regimen, due to a certain amount of boredom in my regular exercise routine. Classes with Rachel have completely energized me, and taught my body things that were previously unfathomable. Her technical ability, as well as her unassailable charm and excellent silk-side manner make classes at Esh Aerial Arts inspiring, exhilarating, and completely the highlight of my week.” ~ Sonya Matthews, student
